These products buy different responsibilities
Kinsta's published WordPress plans include staging, migrations and automatic daily backups. These are useful reasons to shortlist it for a course business; they are not evidence that its lowest plan can handle your live classes. We would pay for the operational package before paying for a speculative speed claim.
DigitalOcean describes Droplets as infrastructure: the customer manages the operating system, applications and data. That freedom is valuable when you need control over the stack and have someone to maintain it. It becomes a liability when the course owner discovers the maintenance obligation during an outage.

The hidden cost is ownership, not just an add-on
A hypothetical $25 monthly infrastructure saving disappears if it creates one extra hour of work you value at $50. That is an illustration, not a vendor quote. Conversely, an engineer who already operates the stack may gain little from a managed package that constrains required access. Neither service is automatically better value.
Daily backups also imply a possible gap between the last backup and a failure. For a business accepting payments or recording student progress, decide how much lost change is acceptable and whether additional backup frequency or another recovery design is needed. A backup listing is not a restore result.
What we will not infer from a pricing page
We have not load-tested these hosts or measured support quality. We cannot name a winner for 100 concurrent students from their plan names. Our preference for managed hosting in the no-administrator case is a responsibility judgment, not a benchmark. Keep the present host if fixing a plugin or query solves the actual problem; a migration is not a substitute for diagnosis.
